This is an attempt at psychological thriller that goes way off base with it’s hapless forays into traditional hackneyed Bollywood routines. The story is oft-repeated in Bollywood revenge sagas- of a lover seeking vengeance for her humiliation, and mixed as it is with some hints of supernatural occurrences provides the basic structure for possible thrills.
Ronnie(Karanvir) is a crime reporter for a local newspaper in Goa who ends up in a passionate relationship with his hot and sensual neighbor Maya(Manaara). The girl is in love with him but he being a playboy is not that attached. On their very first date together they encounter an accident which leads to the death of a teenage girl. Notwithstanding the fracas that follows, Maya confides in her sister(Shraddha Das) about her love for Ronnie and then finds Ronnie in a compromising position with her. Hurt beyond reason, now she is out for revenge…
This Anubhav Sinha production makes a song and dance out of nothing. Sexy, Sinful, Sinister –adwords in the poster don’t make for an erotic psychological thriller en film. Shot in the picturesque locales of party capital Goa, it tries to focus on the dark side but in vain. Possible ‘Hate Story’ intent but in effect not coming close even to that low ask. There’s in fact a little too much promise in the marketing and precious little in deliverance!
