A gimmicky romcom that forces an ill-fitting contrivance to gainsay a distinction ‘Love Exchange’ is disastrous and ill-conceived. This looks and feels like a project that took off mainly because a certain Mr Moneybags was willing to sponsor his own desperate route to stardom.
The story is quite faulty. A Maharashtrian boy Sid (Mohit Madan) who has a family history of estrangement caused by love marriages and a controlling lawyer father who has a pathological distaste for such unions, is set-up as a prime target for a love match. A new writer , his competitor, a Punjabi girl Shanno(Jyoti Sharma) enters the picture at his workplace and soon he falls in love with her after some initial fireworks. The parents of course are not amused. So with an expectation of messing things up, their respective fathers drum up an exchange idea. The boy will live in the girl’s house for three months and get to know their ways while the girl will live the same period in the boy’s house and do the same.
A tragedy and an attempt at sacrifice draw up the brakes but realization soon dawns on the parents and it’s happily ever after.. but not without some clichéd and stereotypical representations of the Maharashtrian, Punjabi, Gujarati, Goan principals that populate the frame. Poorly scripted and even more poorly acted and presented this one’s a washout.
