Qissa wins audience award at Rotterdam Film Festival

qissa_04Anup Singh’s Qissa won The Dioraphte Award at the 43rdInternational Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The award comprising Euro 10,000 (INR 9 Lakh Approx) is given to the most voted film supported by the Hubert Bals Fund.
Qissa which received the Hubert Bals Fund for Script & Project Development in 2004, was made with further support from the Netherlands Film Fund, and was co-produced by Dutch company Augustus Film.
IFFR announced the audience award winners on February 1.  Alexander Payne’sNebraska won UPC Audience Award.
The 43rd IFFR opened with Qissa on January 22.
Qissa had earlier won the NETPAC award at Toronto International Film Festival 2013. Tillotama Shome won the Best Actress award in New Horizons competition at Abu Dhabi Film Festival. The film also won the Silver Gateway award for second best film in the India Gold category of Mumbai Film Festival.
